Hotel food hits hospital trays

A room service dining experience trialled at St John of God Murdoch Hospital is helping improve the experience of maternity patients. The initiative offers a hotel-style food service, where the patient orders what they would like, when they would like it, off an extensive menu.

Big and Loud

In 2018, St John of God Frankston Rehabilitation Hospital became the first in Australia to offer the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment Big for Life and Big for Loud programs, which assist people with Parkinson’s disease address problems with movement and speech.

Dream a little Dream

St John of God Berwick Hospital is helping to make dreams come true. The Dream a Little Dream initiative was designed to grant a wish to patients and their loved ones during end-of-life care. It caters to small, but meaningful dreams that bring some light to what is usually a time of sadness.

New technology-enabled home opens its doors

A five-bedroom home equipped with the latest assistive technology is improving the quality of life for people with a complex intellectual disability. The house creates safe spaces inside and out, and uses technology to improve the independence and dignity of its residents.

A Gift of Hope

Run by the St John of God Foundation, A Gift of Hope is a gift of financial support provided to in-need Australians suffering from a life-threatening condition. It can help to fund medical treatment not currently available on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

Connected Parenting: the big picture

A free online resource has been created for health professionals supporting indigenous families. The resource recognises and celebrates that parenting does not occur in isolation and that it is intimately connected to culture, spirituality, country, community and family.

Meet the winners of the 2018 Tony Howarth Awards for Leadership in Health and Safety. The awards showcase leadership in health and safety across St John of God Health Care. The health and safety of our caregivers and patients is, as it should be, our number one priority.

Improving movement through rehabilitation technology

New technology is being used at St John of God Frankston Rehabilitation Hospital to improve strength and range of movements in people with Parkinson’s disease. The sensor-based therapy system helps patients’ arms, hands, and fingers, to retrain motor function.
